The future of humanity belongs to cities. By mid-century over 70% of us will live in an urban environment and it will only increase in the years after that. But our cities are ill-prepared for this urban future. There are challenges and needs in areas such as providing abundant clean energy, with the consequence of climate change, and with better options for transportation. If we’re going to build great cities in the 21st century, we will need high-quality digital infrastructure. This presentation will discuss the future of our cities and the role of telecommunications in enabling the next generation of digital infrastructure. It will help the audience to understand the possibilities and challenges ahead and may even inspire some to pursue careers or business opportunities in this field.
