Integrated enterprises are becoming more important due to the increased demand for commodities in the modern-day. It is defined as a business that accounts for and integrates all aspects of the business. It connects business processes. A process is defined as a task or series of tasks that consume a resource important such as material money or a machine that creates an output. This means considering the supply, market, capital, and production facilities that all create an output. These outputs create inputs for other parts of the business. There are also three kinds of main business processes that are discussed in the video. The first is the primary process. This is defined as anything that touches the product like a machine making a car part. A secondary process provides inputs on the primary source such as an HR department. The third main process is the framework. The framework is about managing the effectiveness of production and includes processes like strategic planning.

While all of the processes exist in every business an integrated enterprise can balance them the best because the cooperation is structured to monitor everything.   These companies are best able to integrate all aspects of the business into one cohesive whole. Companies are also able to make more informed decisions because all aspects of the business are better understood. This can be helped by advancements in technology from the IT industry. Technologies can gather data on a product’s lifecycle for the manufacturer to better understand how it works in the real world.

The final selection of the video is about the three features a supply chain should have in an integrated enterprise. The first feature a supply chain should have is that it has to be integrated. Each entity has to be able to access another entity. For example, in food manufacturing, the plant should have access to what the customer is buying so it knows what to produce. The second feature a supply chain should have is that it is responsive to decisions made. Decisions made in one area should be made immediately clear to another. Autonomous systems also help improve this aspect of the chain. The third needed trait is that it must be adaptive. Adaption means that when something chains it can easily change given the new circumstances. For example, changes in production should be easy to accommodate in stores. This process should also be done quickly and without delay. This is why integrated enterprises are the future of business.
